Sugar-Free Suspension Structured Vehicle
» Prepare Sugar-Free Suspension Structured Vehicle as follows (see Pharmaceutical Compounding—Nonsterile Preparations 795):
Xanthan Gum 0.20 g
Saccharin Sodium 0.20 g
Potassium Sorbate 0.15 g
Citric Acid 0.10 g
Sorbitol 2.0 g
Mannitol 2.0 g
Glycerin 2.0 mL
Purified Water, a sufficient quantity
to make 100 mL
Transfer 30 mL of Purified Water to a beaker, placing it on an electric hot plate and stirrer. Using moderate heat, stir to form a vortex, and slowly sprinkle the Xanthan Gum into the vortex. In a separate beaker, dissolve the Saccharin Sodium, Potassium Sorbate, and Citric Acid in 50 mL of Purified Water. Using moderate heat, incorporate the Sorbitol, Mannitol, and Glycerin into this mixture. Add to this mixture the previously prepared Xanthan Gum dispersion. Add a sufficient quantity of Purified Water to obtain a final volume of 100 mL, and mix.
Packaging and storage— Preserve in tight, light-resistant containers. Store at room temperature and avoid freezing.
Labeling— Label it to state that it must be well shaken before using.
Beyond-use date— Thirty days after the day on which it was compounded.
Residual solvents 467: meets the requirements.
